What is Infertility?

Infertility is the couple is not able to get pregnancy after repeated intercourse without contraception for 1 year. Infertility is happening on one of five couples in United States. This problem becomes more common nowadays.
Normally doctor specializing in infertility will consider a couple to be infertility is according to 3 conditions:
  1. The couple has not conceived after 1 year of intercourse without contraception if the female is less than 34 years old.
  2. The couple has not conceived after 6 months of intercourses without contraception if the female is elder than 35 years old.
  3. The female is incapable of carrying a pregnancy.

The problem of infertility might be caused by men or women or both. The main three possible reasons might cause infertility are the problem of sperm, ovulation or fallopian tubes. In some cases, the problem might be caused by mucus in cervix. Age also is one of the factors, especially for women. When the women get older, the more difficult to become pregnant, and more risk of complications during pregnancy. Therefore, women who elder than 35 years old have limit time to resolve infertility problems before menopause.

The doctor might suggest the couple who is infertility undergo some treatment. The treatment will help to reduce the time to conceive or to provide the opportunity to the couple. Before they undergo any treatment, the counselor will provide some information about the treatment and the chance of success is beneficial to the couple. By knowing the information about the treatment is very important, it can help to reduce the problem of emotional stress, feeling of inadequacy, feeling of frustration and so on.
